Contemporary life is proving to be increasingly complex, as it requires from us that we respond to many situations with intensified speed and precision. Living under constant pressure can take its toll on our well being or happiness and can manifest as muscular tensions, restlessness, broken sleep, irritability or inner discontent. These simple enough discomforts if persisting, can lead to other problems such as: persistant headaches, chronic fatigue, debility, psychsomatic problems (respiratory or skin disorders), organ malfunction or nervous depression. In an ideal world, staying healthy or repairing ill-health should be everyone's priority and any form of medicine, therapies or healing that can contribute to getting better should be used to achieve this end but of course this is not quite the case today. Complementary therapies are not a substitute for conventional medicine but as they offer a spectrum of healing possibilities with smaller or greater benefits, they can be used alone or in combination with other forms of therapeutic treatments. The availability of a number of therapies means that treatment can be tailored to your specific requirements. What happens when I go for treatment? A treatment session usually lasts for about one hour. A course of treatment may be recommended depending on your body's needs. At the end of your session you should be relaxed and invigorated. It is recommended that you drink plenty of water fro the rest of the day. It is also suggested that you avoid alcohol and vigorous exercise for the rest of the day. After one or two treatments your body may respond in a very definite way. Most people note a sense of well-being and relaxation; sometimes people report feeling lethargic, nauseous or tearful, but this is transitory and is part of the healing process. This is vital information to feed back to the therapist as it shows how you body is responding to treatment. This will help the therapist to tailor a treatment plan specific to your needs. For maintenance of health, treatments are recommended once or twice per month (more if desired). For more serious health problems, treatments can be done more frequently. Note:
